Daisy State Park
We spent last weekend at Daisy State Park. Our first weekend camping trip this year. The weather was wonderful Friday and Saturday. Sunday not so much. We packed it in a little early due to the threat of severe weather.
This was our second trip to Daisy. Probably my favorite spot to camp, locally.

It's a bird, It's a plane....
Tim and I were out on the lake one evening and I heard this "motor" sound in the sky. This is what I saw...

This guy was just buzzing his way all around the lake.

He would climb higher, then come down low, near the water.

He waved at us as he flew by.

Then as quickly as he appeared, he was gone. It looked like so much fun!

Camping in June
Tim, Walter and I spent five days recently in east Texas camping. We were camped at Caddo Lake State Park. Caddo lake is more bayou-like. Great for fishing and kayaking, but not so much for swimming. But that's okay, we were there to fish and kayak.

The lake is home to the largest Cypress forest in the world! In the world! In the picture below, you will see Cypress knees. These are woody structures found growing from the roots of Cypress trees that grow in swamps.

The place that we camped was actually on Saw Mill Pond, which was adjacent to Big Cypress Bayou and Caddo Lake proper. It was a beautiful area and where I took a lot of my pictures.

I love spanish moss! This place was lousy with is! It was everywhere.

We got up most mornings and hit the water before 7. It was a beautiful time of day.

The water was smooth as glass and no one else was out.

A very unique and beautiful place to explore!

All-girls Camping Trip
Two friends and I took Rosey out for the weekend. It was the first time I took her out without any of my guys helping me. And it won't be the last.
We had a blast.

Floating on the Caddo
This weekend we took Rosey out again. This time we decided to take advantage of the predicted rain and do a float trip. We have not taken the kayaks out this season yet. It's just hard to find time for "fun".

I did a little research and found a campsite on the river near the bridge in Glenwood. Samuel and I took the camper up when he got out of school on Friday. This was my first time taking Rosey out by myself. I have to tell you that Sam and I backed her in and set her up completely be ourselves!

Tim followed us with the kayaks when he got off work. Walter joined us on Saturday.

Our float on Saturday was cloudy and a bit cold. If you ask Sam, it was probably extremely cold, as he was the only one to fall in.

The river level was up a little, enough for the float to be fun.

We floated again on Sunday and the sun cooperated. The weather was warmer and the float much more enjoyable. I love this view!

On our way down the river we saw 87 turtles (yes, we kept count), 2 snakes and one sweet little dog.

He was determined to follow us. And follow us, he did, for about 5 or 6 miles of our float. He would run along one side of the river until it would get impassable, then he would swim to the other side and keep following us. There were a few times he would just bail off into the river and swim after us. I felt sorry for him and finally just pulled him into my kayak where he would ride for a while. Then after he rested, he would jump out and run along beside us again. Sam and I named him Pumpernickel, Nick for short. He followed us to our campsite where he was rewarded with a bowl of leftover scrambled eggs and sausage. After a nap in the sun and a good head scratch, he was on his way, wherever that might be. Good luck, Nick.
